Hey guys, am at the end of my rope here, after trying to find my BF2142 disk and failing I tried to get a copy on ebay but couldn't win any auctions, thankfully a forum member helped me out. Got it installed and it kept asking for the disk even though it was in, finally got around that problem and now it just won't load for me.

Every time I run it I just get the "program has stopped responding", tried changing drivers, directx, compatibility mode, disabling visual style, custom configs but it just doesn't want to run at all.

I was really looking forward to playing but I've been frustrated at every stage, anyone else had the same problem and managed to fix it?

Rough specs:
Vista x64 Premium
AMD X2 4000+
Radeon 3850
4GB Ram

Thanks in advance

Same as Xink, it runs perfectly on vistax64 & windows 7 rtm.

It sounds like the disk is dodgy, perhaps the game didn't install correctly ?

What condition doe's the disk look like, perhaps it needs a clean or maybe there is a deep scratch.

Have you tried installing it on a different pc ?

Make sure that you no longer using any compatibility options, this breaks the game in vista and windows 7.

If you have added variables such and screen height and width in the command line of the BF2142 icon remove them also.

If that doesn't work then a re-install of the game might be a good idea.

Finally, BF2142 if a brilliant game coded by idiots, it was broken on release and remains pretty broken even at te latest patch so it miht be that you just can't fix it. It wouldn't run on my laptop with vista x64 no matter what I did but runs absolutly fine on my desktop, go figure.

Have already reinstalled it, that's what fixed the disk issue, the disk looks perfectly fine barely a scratch on it. Have also patched but it does exactly the same. I guess I'll try it on my laptop tonigh see if that produces the same issue, though its currently windows 7.

Try downloading a hard disk crack (though the source i use doesn't have the latest exe version cracked) and see what happens then when you try running it.

-Before any smart-*** comments crop up about the legallity of it, he has a legal CD (I presume) so no it's not breaking any laws.

Mine however runs fine out of the box on Windows 7 x64 (apart from a small dialog box saying it's designed for 32-bit XP, which you just click ok to at the beginning of setup).

Also, have you tried running in xp compatability mode?
