BF BC2 keeps crashing

I've been playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 now for about 2 months, to start with it was playing well at fairly high settings. Then I started to get flickering (I know now this is a common fault with the game), this continued to get worse and more consistent so I lowered the gfx settings. This worked for a while, then the game would suddenly close and this started to become more frequent. Then my computer started to blue screen in the game and this would happen now and again so I lowered the gfx to the games minimum, which helped but didn't stop the crashing and blue screening. I reinstalled yesterday morning expecting this to resolve the problem. Everything started off fine, occasionally got flickering again for 1-2 sec, then the game crashed and then today my comp blue screened.

I've checked the error logs when the game crashes and it points to a problem with the game. I've scanned the memory dumps when the comp blue screens and it says possibly a memory problem. I've scanned my hard disk and memtested the memory and both tested fine. My comp isn't overclocked in any way and my temps when gaming are cpu 60-70'c and GPU 60'c so it's not overheating. I've installed using all the latest drivers and software but the game continues to crash. This only happens with this one game :(

Computer spec:
Shuttle SG31G2
Win7 64-bit
Q9550
4gb ddr2 6400
9800GT
80gb Intel SSD

Try stress testing the GPU with Furmark. If you can run that for an hour it's more than likely not the GPU. Do the same with the CPU with Prime95.

I had 2 causes of crashes in BFBC2:

1) Overclocked GPU. Every other game and app played fine, but BC2 would occasionally give me the white screen of death.

2) Onboard Realtek sound. BC2 hates these, and has caused blue screens for me. Fixed by switching to external sound card.

Oops.

What about Realtek onboard sound?

I didn't install it to start with as I forgot until I made a call on Skype and the sound was clear. So I Installed the latest drivers off the Shuttle website.

I ran FurMark @ 1280x720 with 8x anti-aliasing for 10 mins. The GPU topped out at 75'c. Will try to run it for longer tomorrow.

Something new has started happening since I did the reinstall, every now and again I hear a chirp from the onboard speaker. It's similar to the sound you get just as your system powers off. Think I might give my hdd some more tests too.

Ok, tried disabling them for now in order to rule them out?

Punkbuster is known to cause issues between these hardware monitoring tools.

Have u tried running the game in direct x 9 mode i am unsure if your card supports directx 10 though.

Yeah it supports direct x 10
I've just updated my ssd firmware and my bios is now also up to date.

This evening I was trying to play without any monitoring software to see if that was affecting punk buster but this game is becoming a joke. I've just spent 30 minutes trying to log into servers as it's not loading any of my weapons. I've tried logging off and on, restarting the game, restarting steam, restarting my computer and restarting my internet and still nothing
