Hi,

I bought BF2142 as recommened by a mate, but everytime im in a server i keep getting this lag so when i check out my ping its 14-15!!! So i thought maybe it was my framerate, but my fps checker in the right hand corner reads 30+, my specs are fairly good as well (in sig :)) so what could be issue here.

Any help on this would be gretly appreciated.

Is the spec in your link still right?

AMD Athlon 3200+ Venice @ 2.8GHz w/ Hyper48
DFI Lanparty nF4 Ultra-D
2GB Corsair UCCC PC3200 @ 235MHz
ATi X1900XT 256MB

Thought id type it up for you as it helps with threads like these.:)

most obvious question is, are all your drivers up to date?

Just found this:

That really makes no difference, what truly matters more is the amount of video ram , its memory interface (128bit or 256bit), and how many pixel processors it has. Clock speed is almost irrelevant, I could tell you that if my core clock speed is 500mhz, but that is not going to have any meaning at all if we don't know what GPU it is. For instance, take an ATI 9600xt (a good card in its day) with a core clock speed of 500mhz, try to run BF2142 on it at reasonable settings and it will be a slide show. Increase that speed to 650mhz, you will be lucky to gain 5fps in that game.

If you have a 128mb card or less try increasing the AGP aperture size to 256mb in the bios, it helps with loading parts of the map faster while in game. Of course its helps to have 2gigs of ram too. Also, Install M$ latest directx October update, as it helps with all the new games that are out, such as BF2142. EA is currently working on a patch to address the 'LAG' issue in Titan mode.

I run the game at the highest res my monitor can handle, 1400x900, with all settings maxed out and my system: Plain Jain vanilla PNY 6800 128mb, unlocked and overclocked: 410mhz on the core and 840mhz for mem, 16p;6vp. One gig of ram paired with an Prescott 520 overclocked @ 3.63Ghz. Abit IS7-E, i865-PE Chipset.

It seems its a common problem and might not be anything wrong with your setup.

Only other thing i can suggest is to put all the settings to minimum and start bumping them up slowly, this will tell you if its a certain graphics setting or whether your asking too much of the game.
