no matter what I seem to do, I cant get the ping stable on bf1, nor keep it below 500 for more than a few minutes. I've just built a new rig and it eats the game alive, all on ultra etc, as you would expect for a game that's 6 months old or so, but on multiplayer its a disaster. there's an origin thread on about the exact same thing as well. no suitable answers there, so bringing it over to the merry bunch on here. tried it in dx12 and dx11, no difference.

stumped:confused:

plusnet none fibre. 8700k, 1080ti, asrock professional gaming mboard, wifi connection. usual add ons, windows 10 etc

(I know the wifi aint the greatest idea by the way, but needs must for now)

hmmm. looks like I need to wire this rig up then. that seems to of fixed it. see if it gives me half hours play with a fault first though before I sing your praises to much lol

Any wireless peripherals close by? Wireless headset?

I used to own a Turtlebeach X41, and when I had the transceiver on but not the headphones, the interference was abysmal.
that my friend is exactly what it was. found an old lead (which I'll replace) which just about reaches from the tower to the router and problem solved! really didn't want this pc wired up, but its by far the most stable way and I'm in this for the graphics and the gameplay, not to use it as a pretty overpriced ornament! heh. bye bye Mr WIFI.

Do you know which WiFi card & router you're using? Depending on the hardware, I could walk you through the steps to switch from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz (less interference).

TG582N technicolour router, and the WIFI is off the asrock fatal1ty professional gaming motherboard, rather than an add on card. would be curious if that could be done, regardless of my comments above. the missues and the hoover would thank you for it, put it that way! lol

bf1 has been doing this to a lot of us recently (since the last update although it may be down to spectre/meltdown updates on the servers). It tends to settle down after a few minutes. The UI has been horrifically laggy too (especially if you join a party).

Having said all that, please keep bf1 related questions in the bf1 thread in future:

sorry, hadn't looked for one. will do.
