BF2 and PR0.8 problems

hey just decided to give these games ago again as i have a night off from uni work and well, they were already installed on ym pc and i played them about 3 weeks ago. however, when i went to go on either game the splash screen would go then just a blank screen.

now i remember it used to do this as ive got it to auto log in and skip the vids, but it would only be blank for a short while, not 4 mins as it just was :( and when i finially managed to get on it would hang changing between menus and also when searching for servers, instead of bringing up the usual 800-100 (in bf2) and about 50-100(in PR) it brough up 4 in PR and 6 in BF2, it wont find any more, tried swapping options round but nothing :(

so decided to fresh install them, so ive uninstalled them and just installed BF2 and the patch, well the menu hang and initial start up is back to what it used to be like ( i think maybe a tad longer). but when i search for maps it still only brings up a few :(

whats going on? i love this game and cant believe its not working now, and its not my internet lagging cos been playing some other games and they worked fine and had good pings....

im about to install PR and see what the story is with that.

any input would be helpful thank you :)
 
well now it hangs a bit in the menus with BF and PR, and still both of them show barely any servers comming up :( just updated punkbuster too but that did nowt :(
any ideas?
 
im running a virus scan now but nothing is comming up as of yet and im thinking about doing a full system reinstall.... but that's gunna take a while and would really like to avoid it if i can... so please anyone?
 
Check your firewall is letting PB A and PB B through! and BF2 in general
Prob not the problem though but you never know,

Are you sure your filters are set correct? turn them all off and search all!

are you using XP or vista? vista was a pain for me never worked with bf2 although my mates was fine :(

could your router be blocking, or anything else on your pc / network ?
If no luck I'll give you a direct ip for my clan server see if that works? ot try the 2 in the above posts sig

thanks but well nothing has changed since a few weeks ago and it all worked fine then :( pc just threw a hissy fit tho after the install so im virus checking, defragging and disc checking :D hope it will be fine after :) ill keep ya posted
 
right well no viruses, defragged and disc checked... nothing :P

start up pausing has stopped, but there's still a bit of menu lag when selecting different filters and applying them, say about 10 seconds, and still not seeing many servers on BF2 :(
 
never mind it was sky being ghay :P a reboot of the router and everything was back to normal :P :D delete my thread please :D
