BF2:BC map load times

Hi all,

how long do your maps take to load when playing online?

Mine seem to take forever, considering the spec of rig i have (see sig below).
Far longer than COD:WAW maps (maybe not a fair comparison though).

Has anyone actually timed how long each map takes to load?

I'll test it out tonight, once i've fitted the spanking new 5850 thats sitting in my car boot right :D

edit: just realised, if i omit the BF folder from the AV scanning would it load faster?
 
It's an issue with older ati drivers. Install the 10.4a drivers (make sure they're the "a" ones) for a fix :)
 
Hmmm, ok, thanks. Currently my 4870 (512mb) is powering the rig (until tonight :D) and i'm using 10.4s, not sure whether its the 'a' version or not though.

AAAGGHH!!!!! It was Splinter Cell:Conviction and BC2 that i had issues with. I struggled through with Conviction, but the stuttering was almost unplayable at times, thought it was the 4870 not being up to it, but this fix would have eliminated the problems.
Bugger! i aint going back and playing it again just cos i've applied the fix.
Good news about the map load fix though on BC2. :)
 
5-10 secs? holy moly.
Mine take up to a minute each map!

My god in heaven i can't wait to put the 5850 in and get the 10.4a's on.

If it works, by god will the mrs get 'the good news' when we get to bed tonight! :D

For me I was loading in ~50 sec before using the drivers
 
Seriously, don't post that stuff here. I'm not trying to be a mini-mod or anything but you'll get slapped wrists or temporary holidays if you continue - the MM rules are quite strict.
 
The work around was to set the game to dx9 mode which gave the 5 sec load times, now that the drivers are out i may update and go back to dx10
