BF2 - changing user name

help me out if you can - I have just gotten back into BF2 following a 6 months hiatus. Really cool game, don't know why I stopped playing. Anyway, I was a member of the 50Klicks and hence have the tag. Well I haven't been on for a while and hence whenever I go on the 50K server I get flamed for having not been there for a while and get asked (politely though) to remove the tag. Well. How?

I remember that deleting your account through the interface didn't work as you would then try to create a new one with the same e-mail address and it would tell you that the e-mail address is taken. has this been fixed? Or, can I go directly to a gamespy account page and change my name in there? If so what is the url?

I am a bit loath to try and change it now as at least I can play on other servers with the 50K tag. However I am a bit carp atm and feel that I would be dragging 50K's good name through the mud.

Also as I am getting into BF2 again, does anyone think that the SF's expansion is a worthy purchase?
 
Unfortunately EA didn't think if a way to change your login username, only your prefix, the only way is to create a new login account without the clantag and start anew. When you join another clan you can put the clantag in the Prefix box so it will be at the front of your name without having to create another new account.
 
You could try contacting EA and asking them, you never know. Other than that their is no easy way to change your name other than creating a new account and resetting your score.

Is the tag part fo your registered name, or is it just set as a prefix on the login box?

You could have course get back on with us at 50K and try to re-earn the tag then you wont need to worry ;)

surely if you start playing 50k's will welcome you back in ?
contact them on their forum mayb
 
But if you could change names the database would be going mad. Like most things online forums or games or anything you have to stick with your login name.
 
I never said you could change your username, infact I said the complete opposite lol.

I DIDN'T make an account with a clantag or anything, I just made my regular online gaming name account until the Prefix was added...as you may have noticed its not me with the problem, I have had the same account since I bought the game.

But the problem is that when you delete the profile it doesn't actually delete the profile it seems as when you try to register another name under the same e-mail address it says that the e-mail address is already registered. I don't want to have to create a random hotmail account for this = pain in the rear.

Gonna delete profile and try to recreate another account. If not then I will have to go the hotmail route and then go into the gamespy account pages and update it with my orginal e-mail address - hopefully. Wtf they need an e-mail?!?!?! I have never received an e-mail from them regarding this carp.
 
You have 2 choices.

Either change your name and start again or get back in with 50K.
50k despite some posts and chat are Very reasonable when it comes to handling team/clan issues. They go out there way to resolve issues with not only tag wearers but friends of 50k and the general public. I am positive that within a week of socialising with 50k you will be accepted back in no probs at all.

Alternatively you can create a new account and start again.
This isn't as bad as it sounds as you can then enjoy leveling up and gaining your awards again.

Be aware that an Oc team is forming and you are more than welcome to put your name down. We intend to squad up and maraude publics and generally squad up regularly. You will be back to your current state stats wise in no time at all playing with us.

am happy to put my name down but a bit reticent to commit to a clan full time until I really get into the game this time (blame WOW for drawing me away from BF2 last time, but I am back as my WOW addiction is under control now, so it shouldn't take to long). Let me know where I can put my name down for the team.

Will try and get in with the =50K= lot again as you are right; while I got asked to remove the tag when on their servers I was never kicked, but I usually left before that happened.

I made up a hotmail address, as beleive it or not you can't delete a GameSpy account!?!?!? Went to the help pages and it said it in plain English! Son of a*@£$!!! So am now leveling a new account created with a hotmail account.

am now Elitist-Corp - lol!

We've had a bit of a chat about it over at 50K and we are fine of you simply want to put "*EX*" as you prefix - so that your in-game name reads "*EX*=50K=ElitistCorp". We've done that with other members that have left who still want to play on our servers and you will be safe from warning / kickings etc. The server admins are all aware of this. Obviously we'd love to have you back with us at 50K, but the sugestion is there in case you don't....
