So EA's crappy cases basically duffed my BF2 original disc, cracked it all the way up.

I used to just play with the SF discs, but if I am to install again I would only be installing BF2 SF, not the original.

Anyway I can get BF2 original back on without paying for another disc?

You need to contact EA and they will send you a new disk.

There is no other way really, any not so legal way of getting it is likely modified and would get your account locked.

Lol, EA will just rip me off. I paid for BF2, SF and the 2 boosters.

Now isn't it the serial that counts?

hmm, if you purchased the software you are allowed to make backup copies for personal use ...

my bf2 dvd was half eaten by my dodgy dvd drive ... but luckily i had a backup ...

cant you borrow a friends disc, and install with your legit serial ?

Something happened with Windows XP, disk naffed up so I had all my licensing info and my code so I used a backup hell its the serial that matters and it was registered to me.

Whats wrong with making disk images to an external backup hard disk?

Years ago people did floppy backups for floppy applications, whats the legislation on that exactly, it is after all for private use.

Same happened with mine too, but i bought the deluxe so i had two copies anyway, however, my friend had the same thing happen to him and EA sent him two new copies of the disc as they are aware there is a problem with the disc holder thingies that they use :) they may try to blame it on you not putting the disc away properly but if you say it was through no fault of your own then it should be fine.

same happened to me, but the crack extended all the way to the roof of our house.... do you think EA will pay my insurance excess ???

Damn them CD cases

I never use cases. All my CD's go into CD wallets or trays with individual sleeves. Manuals in the manual drawer, codes kept in a text file (back up and printed, kept with the cd's and the manuals), Boxes go in the bin, or if theyre nice... on the shelf. But theyre empty :p

If I kept every box I'd had, I would need another room

Well I have BF2, but I want SF.

So if I phone up EA, say my SF disc has been cracked by their case and through no fault of my own, they will send me a SF disc?

I can get a serial number easy.

Steve

well i just rang EA, was told that cracks arent covered under their warranty but if i send them £7.50 they'll send me a new copy of the game

So I can get Special Forces for £7.50!

providing you already own a copy ...

i think £7.50 to cover the costs of organizing, posting, packing and the game itself is rather reasonable.

How would they know if I own a copy already?!
I could just say I do.

Where abouts in Leicester mate? :)

i had to do this with BF1942

you have to post your broken legal disc to them first

crucially though with 2142 they only asked for the damaged disc, not the whole box, manual etc.. so i've got 2 BF 1942 cd keys as they dont just replace the disc, they send a whole new game. (box manual, the lot)

oh and we own a house in wigston. Which we're in the process of selling atm. Moving back up north to wakefield. (where the house prices are cheaper and job prospects a lot better. Wanted to get into IT, spent ages looking for jobs in leicester. Nothing much came up. Looked up north, found loads, had been accepted for 2 within 3 weeks)
