well i just rang EA, was told that cracks arent covered under their warranty but if i send them £7.50 they'll send me a new copy of the game

If you can be bothered contact someone like Watchdog at PCZone as the cracking disc thing has been a huge problem for EA for a while now, and given the right 'motivation' they will give you a new disc for free.
