Hey.

Is this true? I was told that BF2 will run better IF your GFX card ISNT overclocked.

I now have a 6800 16 pipes GFX card, i used to have a Radeon 9550 gfx card.

When i played BF2 with the 9550, it was so much smoother, and it was a poor gfx card!

Now i play with my 6800 and its jerky!

So is it true, BF2 doesnt like OCing?

Have you overclocked the 6800 then??

Why not try resetting it to factory and then try the game again, if it still runs poorly you know its not that its overclocked!

You might have turned the details up a bit too much with the 6800 exposing other weaknesses in your system, for example if you're playing on 64 player maps or have textures on high you're going to need 2GB RAM for 100% smooth gameplay.

I do have 2 gig ram.

I defaulted the overclock, played BF2 and its runs smooth (on low)

I cant understand why this is, computers are so wierd.

Heh, my card is staying clocked!

I just ran 3DMARK03 and get 10K points - Thats amazing for my rig!

My clock is : 390/821

But surely if it's causing problems in games it's not worth clocking it?

Games > Benchmarks

All my other games are running fine. Just BF2, and i dont see why its causing lag as there is more power comming from my card.

Could this be a bottlekneck?

Specs : Intel Celeron D 2.93Ghz - 2GIG RAM.

go to my documents, battlefield 2, mods, bf2, cache and delete all the folders out of this. now run BF2. when loading a map it will optimise shaders etc and it should speed it up a bit after its done. having too many of them folders with your different video settings in seem to slow BF2 down a bit. I find that havin just 1 with my current settings in works a treat.

think i read this on a tweak guide for BF2 a while ago

If you've overclocked your PC to the point where it's unstable, BF2 won't like it and will keep crashing. Just back off the OC on your CPU a little and try it.

My CPU isnt overclocked.

I read it on a tweak guide that some games dont like a card thats overclocked.

Is it only BF2, or is this with other games too? What drivers are you using?

My other games are working fine, its just BF2.

Its not massive lag, its just jerky, and no way has it ever being has bad as it is.

Im thinking is it because my pipes are unlocked, am i bottle knecking or something?

I have an 7800GTX i had the driver 84.11 i think it was then updated not to long ago to 84.21 and now i have to run the settings on medium instead of high as it woould not load the map it got to 53% of loading then closed its self into windows.

Just a quick note, If you are overclocked and having problems with any game then you are clocked too high. If you have a 100% stable overclock be it CPU or GPU then games will run fine. Games do not dislike overclocked systems just unstable ones. Certain CPU/ GPU intensive games will show up problems where a less system intensive game will not. Just thought I'd mention it ;)

Well, this is wierd. I closed my pipes to the default, and BF2 runs good again now.

That is not weird, the extra pipelines were problematic! :)

I've got a 6600gt and a 7800gt in my pc's which are overclocked via coolbits pretty much to the max...both work flawlessly in BF2....
