BF2 Error Message...

Hey guys, I hope you can help...

Basically, just formatted machine, and installed BF2 again. Patched with both 1.41 and 1.5. Started up the game, and after about 10 seconds of playing in an online game, it quits to the main menu, saying something like "Player ... kicked for following reason "Service Communication Error: PnkBstr.exe"

Now I've got no idea what it is, or how I can fix it? But basically, I can't play BF2, and it's irritating me...

Any help or advice would be much appreciated

i think u need to manually update punkbuster, download it from their site and all should be sorted

No worries mate, just make sure after you've added the game you check for updates

Right, added the game, checked for updates, it downloaded and updated something.
So loaded it all back up again, and got the same message :/ Really frustrating, because I don't know what's wrong

Theres a program somewhere on the punkbuster website that uninstalls then reinstalls punkbuster then checks to see if its working.
I cant find it though im sure its there somewhere

Go to Start
Run
Services.msc
Look for PnkBstrA & B, make sure they're both set to Automatic and Started

Ive found it:
http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe
Uninstall pb then install it and test.
You might have to run the updater after it aswell

Right, sorry to be a pain again guys, but I've got a new one

I can play BF2 fine, but some server seem to like having a tantrum with me, and I get kicked, for a very similar message, but at the end it says "Heartbeats stopped..."

Any ideas?

Look in your firewall, if it has the right permissions to access the internets.. Also check if PnkbstrA and pnkbstrB are running. If not that message will pop up.
