Hi does anyone have flying tips for BF2, I'm practicing a lot but I wouldnt mind some tips to hurry me up, I got a joystick and one thing I would like to know is what % acceleration is needed for the chopper just to float in mid air? I've got one of those accelerator sticks controlling it going from 0-100%

Well first off you should practice offline (not singleplayer just create a server). I learnt to fly on Gulf of Oman myself at first with Blackhawk as it's the slowest. At first I was trying to land on easy spots like somewhere on a field. When I was starting to get hang of that I was try to get myself to land in tougher spots (toughtest at the time was the roof of that building where MEC start off with an APC and a tank). As for hovering in the air, if you put throttle to 0 you will pretty much float for some time before starting to descent very slowly, but anyway hovering at one spot really isn't a good idea ;).

Once you actually get hang of flying head off to servers and get ready to be shot down a lot since learning to fly is only part of the whole experience, rest is learning to survive while you're flying. Try and use terrain to your advantage, flying high is the way to die, as that's where AA, planes, mobile AA (IGLA or something) and .50 Cal on the jeeps can easily get you and you really don't have anywhere to run. Flying low is actually the best way to survive, small arms fire can't hurt you that bad. Try and use mountains, buildings, oil tanks and all sorts to your advantage. It also helps to memorise where AA nests are and avoid them (with time you'll easily learn where they all are).

When piloting an attack chopper the most thing to remember is that you're not the one that's suppose to do damage. You'll only there to pick targets for your gunner and he'll do the rest (then again a lot of gunners on public servers are rubbish so you may have to use your rockets to destroy armor and just let him use chaingun on troops).

I have a decent one that got me in the swing.

Try Wake Island from USMC in the attck heli, and fly over the little island in the middle, and try to destroy the boat at the landing, then go to the left point and take the jeep out, fly along the map, land on the bridge, then go the the MEC base and take otu a target, then back up the other side of the island, landing n the bridge then taking the jeep out at the end of the island. Go to boat, rearm, repeat.

Thats what i done as its a relatively easy island to fly on, now ive started with sharqui trying to weave through the buildings.
