BF2 for 2 weeks until BF3? do it do it?

Ive never played any of the battlefield 2 series only ever played BC2 and BF3 Beta and ive fallen in love with the games since coming from CS and TFC quake days...

is it worth playing BF2 as a newb for 2 weeks until is it massive differnece from BF3 and BC2 gameplay or will i pick it up quiet quickly? do u get unlocks etc? and what are maps like to learn? and what maps are best to be played? also is it conquest and rush?

sorry for 100 questions just i need a BF fix until BF3 and cant go out drinking etc as got important footy games this week haaha :D

BF2 is the best battlefield game out to date. Is it easy? sure when it first came out, now everyone knows every spot/glitch there is to know. I have just got back into it after a few years and hell I am struggling on same maps to get a kill. Everyone just drops down prone in a split second and blows me away.

Awesome game though, the jets are wicked.

There is no rush in battlefield games, only bad company. The maps are huge with upto 64 players. Epic battles.

I used to play 1942 back in the day. Don't like it much now though I prefer bf2, I used to use the desert storm mod I think it was called. Basically bf2 has almost all the stuff bf3 has to be honest, apart from a few extra perks, but I would suggest trying bf2 as it is a real bf game. 1942 and bf2 are the real bf games, bad company is great, but nothing like the first 2.

If the only game you have played is bad company, then that is not real battlefield imo.

BF2 was awesome in it's prime, but it's not quite the same anymore.

Firstly, for some reason my hit detection is a joke these days (even though my ping is less than 20ms), the game seems to just randomly choose whether or not I get a hit and everything I see on screen seems to be a good a second or two out of sync, making moving shoots impossibly hard.

Secondly, whilst theres quite a lot of people still playing, most of them are either complete retards or super soldiers with magical powers. So unless you know a good clan server with reliable admins, it's not a very pleasant experience to say the least.

I still get the occasional good game, when theres decent players online on the servers I frequent, but these occasions are getting more and more rare.

Also DICE as usual, screwed up more than they fixed when the released the 1.5 patch.

In conclusion, give it a try, but don't go in expecting the same game you played years ago.

This, BF2 is a classic but come on, it is ropey. Come and join all teh cool kids sniping, 'nade spamming and rocketeering on BFBC2 ;)
 
Come join those of us who're still playing, and you'll not want to leave for BF3 :)
I normally hang around the BFG servers on Sunday nights and some week evenings in my tin can.

I still play BF2 one of the best BF games to date does not have that crappy rush mode, 64 player contested and there are some great mods out there I will still be playing this until the severs die down.
