Hi ![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/vbSmilies/Normal/smile.gif)
I've been playing BF2 ever since it came out and I've yet to resolve this annoying problem. What happens is that whenever I am turning around (i.e. panning the view across the battlefield) I get these odd slowdowns, as if frames are being "dropped"; the faster I turn the worse it is. Note that this is not like the normal stuttering you get due to lack of memory or what not, but more like micro deceleration and accelarations in frame rate as the frames are dropped. Strangely enough my frame rate doesn't seem to be affected and remains above 90fps (according to FRAPS).
The thing is, it only becomes noticeable if I actually stand still and turn around at medium speed, otherwise I'm unaware of it happening as I rarely stand around spinning about
. The effect seems to be constant and consistent through out all maps and I even experience the same issue in BF2142, though to a lesser extent.
I would like to stress that this is not the usual stutter you get as map data is being loaded and since my system has 2gb I have no issues with lack of memory anyway. Also I had the exact same problem on my older system.
Here are the specs of my current computer:
X2 4400+
2gb ram
x1900xt 512mb (catalyst 6.12)
x-fi xtreme music
windows xp sp2
an my old system:
A64 3500+
1gb ram
9800pro 128mb (cat 5.6)
sblive! sound card
windows xp sp1
I don't experience this in any other games and my system is perfectly stable. I would really appreciate some input on this since it can be very annoying, especially given that I mostly play sniper class and panning the view around smoothly is very important.
