BF2 - Getting angry

Well I bough this the other day and I have only managed to play one game.

got though problems with appling the patch (which also got me angry)

Not when I try to log in it says "Connecting to .............." and it stayed on that, won't change no matter how long I leave it.

I Ctrl+Alt+del and it says BF2 is not responding.

Please help me cause i am getting abit annoyed as I shelled out £20 for a game I can't play.

Sounds like your having trouble with your firewall not the game.

I had the same problem with Zonealarm, it asks for permission to access the net so i said yes:always and the game tried to connect but it just used to freeze the system.

I had to go into Zonealarm and give it always rights to the server settings too.

It was trying to ask for permission to use server settings but it would tab out of the game and froze. Ive ahd this on many games now.

Going to upset you now, but if the game is running fine, then surely I don't need to tweak anything?

If I even wanted to open or close ports I would have no idea how :confused:

Sorry, I meant if original thread starter was running behind a firewall or router, which might explain his problems. If you see down the drop-down list under games it will have BF2 and lists the ports required, rather than tweaking the game itself (as you say why tweak it if it's working, his wasn't).
 
are you running the game from thr shortcut on the desktop that says,

play online now if you do it tries to connect to a server automaticaly and takes forever.

launch it from the bf2 shortcut then try connect, if you are launchin it correctly then you need to open ports.

Yep. I had the EXACT same problem.

It doesnt end there, when you start playing you'll come across a whole lot of new bugs that will annoy the hell outta you. :D

One of the things that really brings this game down is the time it takes to do everything. It's very slow, until you actually get ingame.

I agree, it might be a problem with your firewall.

You mean load up get to the menu, find a server, connect, waiting for loading and those bloody graphical shaders at 62% where it sticks.

It wouldn't be BF2 otherwise! ;)

Honestly, such an odd game. It's fantastic when it works and you're having a great game, but it inspires fits of rage in even the most peaceful of gamers at other times! All the bugs and slowness and everything. It's unique! :D

doesnt bother me as it takes so long for the artill to recharge, planes however are a different matter!!

Fair enough, they are fast and nearly impossible to take out in flight other than hoping into a plane yourself but they can constantly bomb the hell out of you! Very annoying when you only respawned a second before.

At least make the fools land to rearm, ive never seen planes rearm in mid air just by flying over the airstrip.

I had so much joy when I took out a plane with a tank, cocky pilots who thing they can reign missiles on you only to be shot down by their prey Muhahaha

LOL nice one!

I can pretty much take down any helicopter with an AA placement. Lock on, wait for them to fire flares, move up, loose lock, lock back on target and fire both missiles. Its very rare they survive.

Planes however, by the time youve locked on they have pulled away and thrusted out of range, they then turn around and come straight for you!
 
Sometimes I can't help but get a smug grin when I realise I must be the only person alive who is having, and always has had, an almost flawless Battlefield 2 gaming experience. :) Aside from the red-name team bug and one corrupt patch (my fault, actually) I haven't had a thing. :p

No offense to all who are, I hope you get it fixed, but I am still feeling smug. :D

the only trouble ive ever had is a problem with the names (now sorted), ONCE when my AA missiles had locked onto an enemy chopper they destroyed a friendly chopper instead and thats about it!

Havent had any dual core problem with it either!
