I recently got a new cpu mem and gfx, so iv formatted and reinstalled windows, but once ive installed bf2 i cant play any games, install anything else or defrag my hdd.

If i try to do any of the above it just freezes, and iv had one bsod (machine check exception)

Im certian its not hardware related as its 24hr prime stable and 12hr memtest stable.

Everythings fine before i install bf2 its just after.

Im running windows xp pro sp2
x2 3800 @ 2.6
3500ll pro 2-3-2-5 @ 216
7900gs
ultra -d
spinpoint hdd.

Anybody shed any light on the situation? or am i just going to have to stay bf2less?

Thanks

Try putting all settings to stock and reinstall.

Make sure you have deleted fully the F2 folders inc the one in my docs.

Sounds like a possible dodgy hard disk.

Try this first

Insert your windows CD

Click Start > Run > sfc /scannow

Let it run through and it will replace any damaged windows files.

If that doesnt fix it, then run a scandisk on the machine to check for dodgy disk.

when installing bf2, make sure you dont cancel the dx9 install regardless of whther you already have installed it or not as this can occasionally balls things up.
