BF2 help Windows 7 64 bit

Guys , me and a few buddies decided we are going to have some retro fun this weekend and re-install BF2.

Having loaded and patched it I am constantly crashing to desktop and need some help please .

I have done the following

1 installed bf2
2 patched to 1.41
3 patched to 1.5
4 manually updated punkbuster

When load a server it let's me get to 100 % , validates the client and then gives me a very brief look at the kit load out screen before crashing to desktop

MSI Afterburner causes problems with BF2, if you're using it. FRAPs can cause problems with some games as well. Turn off any in game overlays, such as Steam, Xfire or Raptr.

try running it in win xp compatibility mode

Mine works fine these days! Never did at the time though

I haven't bothered updating Punkbuster but always right-click on BF2 and Run as administrator.

Theres a known issue with monitors that output more than 60 hz.

Manually force the monitor to 60hz in your graphics card control suite. Sometimes setting it to 59hz works too.

Sorry should have said I have tried all types of configs for running as admin , xp service pack 2 and 3 ect

I have a 5870 running11.5 and a dell u2410

have you tried older graphics drivers ?

tried clearing the cache folder in my documents.

Are you running it through steam? Don't!
