BF2 Lag/Twitch...

I am having a serious and crippling problem when playing BF2 recently.
I have reinstalled windows, and BF2, SF, 1.41.
Whilst running along merrily in a straight line suddenly and randomly the view will "twitch" to a completely different direction. It doesn't account for mouse speed or anything - for example in a plane I will be flying directly forward and suddenly be facing the ground - no transition between the two directions, just instantly facing a different way even if you cant turn that fast in the plane/heli...!

You can imagine, I am sure, how destructive this is when flying low in a chopper, or through buildings. Or when running towards an enemy who is reloading, shotgun ready to blast him in two, when suddenly you are running at an odd angle with your shotgun facing the sky.

It's ridiculously annoying, please tell me someone has an idea what's going on :(

I only play on servers with <100 ping, and this never happened before the reinstall. My mouse is a good one, and is pretty new and clean, as is the mouse mat.

Some other people i play bf2 with have also said, that over the last few days they have also had this problem? Not sure what the answer is though.
 
So... install BF2, then 1.41, then SF? 0o
That's retarded....
Surely if the patches were done wrong the game just wouldnt run, rather than twitching?

Will try the punkbuster update later, I can see how Punkbuster could be a cause... it's just odd that it didnt happen before.
 
Well yes, that's my thought - but the question is why. These aren't high latency servers, and I can't see why they would spin me around to a random direction... I don't get any disconnects...
 
I do get kinda lag in BF2 especially in the choppers TV scope where it'll kind of shudder which is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry annoying when a blackhawk full of ***** is hovering infront of you and you miss!23!"!" :mad:

Yup. Its doesn't happen all the time but its exactly the same as your getting. Just updated pb and going to see how it is.
 
I know its a lot of effort but even EA say if you have any problems with the game reinstall it like that. make sure its all wip[ed clean on the computer just before isntalling tho dont leave crap lying around lol. I dont want to ask the obvious, but you have updated ** video, sound and directx to the latest yes?
 
Turn off your overclock on your CPU.

I have exactly the same problem, but only when the CPU is overclocked. Otherwise, it's fine. :)

Every other game is fine, as is Orthos for all night, but BF2 (or Project Reality in my case) is really fussy.
