BF2 laggy all of a sudden !

Hi all,

After playing BF2 for some time now all has been well, until about a week ago.
Recently maps in certain areas have started getting really laggy to the point where I cannot play them anynore. Also I have started getting random crashes/freezes and kicks back to desk top with the game closed down with no warning !!!
I have not changed any settings, my pc is spy ware /virus free and I have not installed anything else . The problems seem to have appeared out of "nowhere".
Anyone have any ideas what it may be or anyone else have similar experiences?

P.S. Source is fine.
 
When was the last time you cleaned out your system of dust.
Check your temps.
 
you arent the first to raise this issue either, it seems like bf2 needs reinstalling every few months or so to keep it form going haywire with itself. i for format every few months so ive not had these issues personally, but just a conclusion ive come to whilst reading posts like this
 
It shouldnt need reinstalling mine hasnt and Ive changed half a dozen components since launch. What settings are you using for bf2 and how much memory do you have.

Make sure its not paging to the disk during gameplay, ctrl-alt-del and check performance tab values. Peak commit charge should not exceed total physical memory ever.

Run enditall before loading bf2
 
If you've overclocked considerably this could also be the problem. My BF2 runs worse when overclocked and crashes to desktop occaisionally. Try dropping clocks to stock to see if this is the problem.

I reinstalled it only a few weeks ago with full 1.2 patch.

I am running 2 gig of ram

Non of my system is overclocked.

Anyone recommend a good GPU / CPU monitor so I can log and check values after a session ???
