I have just installed a XFI Extreme card into my computer and the installation went without a hitch.

BUT when i go to the BF2 audio options and then pick the creative xfi and put the audio quality to high and enable eax it crashes back to desktop?

Should i be choosing hardware instead of Creative XFI in the BF2 audio options?

Thanks

The problem is already documented in the Knowledge Base. (I copied it here for you)

If you encounter this problem, we recommend that you reinstall your Sound Blaster X-Fi drivers as follows:

1.

Browse to *:\Audio\Drivers on the X-Fi installation CD (where * is your CD/DVD Rom Drive letter).
2.

Double-click Setup.exe to run the Creative Driver Update Utility.
3.

Under Update Option check the Driver Uninstallation box.
4.

Check the Delete all shared Creative audio driver files box.
5.

Click OK.
6.

Click Yes to the warning that follows.
7.

Click OK to proceed with the uninstallation.
8.

When prompted, click OK to reboot your system.
9.

When your system has rebooted, click Cancel when Windows detects new hardware.
10.

Repeat steps 1 and 2.
11.

Under Update Option check the Driver installation box.
12.

Click OK.
13.

Reboot PC when prompted.
14.

Relaunch Battlefield2.
15. You can now apply Sound Blaster X-Fi settings in the game's audio settings and proceed.

Ok thanks for all ** suggestions, will try unistalling and reinstalling the drivers again. And if that don't work will wait till this weekend and install both BF2 and Special Forces again  bloody annoying though.

Also to save starting another thread, I used the ATI control panel thing to overclock my X1800xt, not a lot but a decent amount, and when i went into BF2 all the graphics were totally messed up? Is it much the same thing, overclock the card then reinstall bf2 to get the game to recognise the overclock?

Thanks

Was it unlocking pipes, or just increasing the clock speeds?
Probably teaching the proverbial granny to suck eggs, but could you try overclocking it in stages to see if there is a threshold that causes failure once you breach it?
