BF2 or BF2142 and why?

Which one and why, bascially?

Don't want a flame fest, does BF2142 offer anything BF2 doesn't or Is it like bad sequel.
 
Bf2 for mindless violence and carnage, 2142 for tactics and not as much mindless violence and carnage.
 
Never liked 2142 from the start due to the principle of it, a basic reskin and the whole in-game advertising thing pre-release.

Still played it quite a bit though, still prefer BF2 Infantry Only.
 
BF2142, purely because air power was so overpowered in BF2. If you go BF2 you'll end up playing infantry only maps the whole time.
 
Well i played the BF2142 beta and demo, it was ok but it just felt too i don't know confused, so many different unlocks, i had to unlock grenades etc.
BF2 i have played since release and i still play it to this day, its quite a lot of fun i must say, but when it goes bad as with 2142 you want to cry...a LOT they can both be very frustrating.
BF2 also has more players.
As for it being a bad sequel its aimed at a slightly different market even though its a pretty much an identical game.
Personally i would go for BF2 every time, they have been out so long you can pick them up for about a tenner just get them both you might as well, or better still try the demos, i know for a fact BF2 has changed quite a bit since the demo but you still get the jist of things.
If you like COD4 chances are you will prefer BF2.
 
As stated above it just feels like a expansion pack and a expensive one, if you want a different game just download some mods for free, which has the same basis as bf2 but different and as much as fun as bf2 as long as people are on it.

having played both but not been addicted like i am to cs to either i prefer bf2 mainly because i like the army over future army.

also having bought the bf2141 expansion when it came out then having to buy it again now to play it again.
 
Both were great until EA/DICE started "fixing" things, now I find BF2 a poor imitation of it's former self. Too many restrictions on what you can and can't do.

Even if you put all the improvements (engine wise) from BF2142 into BF2, it would still be lacking.

I'd put BF2142 before BF2, but still play both. ;)
 
Definitely BF2. I think I've clocked about 600 hours play time whereas I think I played 2142 for maybe 6 hours, I think it's buggyness after it's initial release didn't help.

you can only really answer that yourself by trying them, personally i love'em both for different reasons

BF2 is great, cool maps, cool weapons and great gameplay,, dolphin diving and insta proning is on an all time stupid level in this game though and they kinda nerfed out the fun 1.2 onwards.. still play it on a regular basis

BF2142 is also great, better gadgets, more balanced gameplay and no blatant hacking ala BF2, no insta proning or dolphin diving and worth every penny *its not an expensive addon as those who play will agree*

buy both ... but hey none come close to battlefield 1942 ]8-

BF2 is stuck on infantry only with hacking galore.

2142 is not buggy, you obviously dont know what ** talking about.

Essentially,you need to give both games your time and decide yourself which is best and not take the view of fanboys who wont consider another game in the same genre! :rolleyes:
