bf2 + popping/crackling noises?

I'm having a problem with the sound in bf2 where I get popping/crackling noises and random in game noises from all over the map right next to me.

Running Windows XP (32bit), Creative Audigy 2 ZS (latest official creative drivers). I have installed the drivers twice, redone the 1.3 bf2 patch. I dont know why it is doing this, sometimes I can play a round with normal sound other times it just kicks in for a min or two with this ear splitting noises .

Anyone have any ideas?

oops reread the thread and see it should be in system32 folder. I did a search and found OpenAL32.dll is this the correct file?

Yes thats the correct file. Fisrt run the exe from the link in the 2nd post, then copy OpenAL32.dll to your BF2 folder (backup the original file first).
