BF2 Problem

I was playing bf2 last night with no probs, then the game moved onto a new map and ever since then it crashed bf2. I can see the mouse but i can't move anything, and when i ctr/alt/del to desktop then freezes the pc up.

I have tried defrag and cleared the cache in bf2, tried a re-install with no change. I have not updated anything since i played it last with no hassle, i was thinking maybe could it be spy ware but it only effects this game, i tried 1942 and had no issues i am guessing a reformat maybe ?

could be many things but more details would be helpful.

patch 1.3 has many bugs and its stability is fairly poor, crash to desktop and random freezing are just some typical problems.

check the temp of your gfx card or proc, these can cause strange lock ups .

have you installed any new drivers or software etc ??

i recently did a clean install of Xp and BF2 to see if it helped with the above.

BF2 installed , not patched
Special forces installed next, let it patch to 1.1
install patch 1.3
then install the boosters AF + EF

i have to admit my random CTD's and problems have virtually gone so whether this is just luck i dont know.

defrag your HD a few times maybe if a reformat is not an option.

Well tried a reformat, different drivers, defrags, now it just kicks back to desktop randomly when playing, now before anyone says the 1.3 patch it only started doing this 3 days ago

He never really had any probs with it till then, but now he could play for 2 mins then back to desktop, or play for 30 mins and back to desktop its just random its very laggy going in folders etc they take awhile to pop up.

All he has done is update too the latest drivers he said and his probs came now he has uninstalled the new drivers and put the ones he was using back in with no change..

The system is A64, 4000/Asus A8N-E nForce4 Ultra /2x1 gig geil value/BFG 7800gtx.

k, i wont mention patch 1.3 ctd's and how it is probably the problem ;p

make a copy of your bf2 folder, download patch 1.4 beta 2
apply it, and boot it up. play some maps and see if your still crashing randomly.
patch 1.4 hasnt crashed on me yet, and i play bf2:sf mostly which rarely crashes

Its not me personally its a friend who's having probs, ill try that as i have the 1.4 patch in so i know how to sort that.
