BF2 Problems! - Vista 64

I'm having major problems getting BF2 to work. If I do a clean install it loads but I can't connect to any games. I can see them in the list but when I try to connect it times out after a while and says unable to connect to IP.

When I try to patch the game to 1.41 it goes all the way through then just before the end flashes up 'failed to patch'

After this BF2 loads to the main screen for a fraction of a second then bombs out to windows.

I've uninstalled, rebooted many time but always have the same problem.

Any ideas?

run it as administator?

right click on the item and click RUN AS ADMINISTATOR or how ever you spell it

I've done that mate. Makes no difference

there's a preferences file/folder somewhere that can cause a lot of problems. think it might be in my documents. try deleting it.

Will do mate. I'm guessing its something to do with a left over folder/registry key.

hmm i'm yet to encounter a problem with vista64 and bf2... have u checked your connection and made sure u have firewalls off or set to allow bf2 to access the internet ?

Yeah. The windows firewall is turned off and I've opened up Comodo Firewall. I've also cloesed Comodo.

Yeah im running 64 vista and BF2 just fine, even though i get a problem when i try and click join game, i have to ALT TAB out and back in again
