Hoi Guys,

My brother got a 'Second Hand' copy of BF2: Deluxe Edition (the one that includes special forces) from an online retailer. Every time he goes to play online Punkbuster throws back a hardware ban for cheating. This has happened ever since he got the game.
My thinking is that the previous 'owner' of the game did some not very nice illegal things - Serves my bro right for buying a second hand copy :p

If he goes out and buys another copy of the game unistalls his current one, creates a new account etc etc, will he still get problems?

Cheers.

If its a hardware ban, then surely the ban is for the hardware, i.e. specifically for the PC it is being run on.

Sounds like your brother has been banned for cheating.

I doubt therefore that a new copy of the game will make it work!!

as said, hardware ban refers to his pc, not the clent.

So doesnt matter if its second hand or not.

If i remember rightly the ban is tracked by mac address, i may be wrong. so if his mobo has dual nic's try the other port.

But make sure you check his pc for any thing which could be classed as cheat releated first.

How would your brother be affected with a hardware ban if he hasnt played BF2 with the account?

Unless BF2 logs the cheat, doesnt ban straightaway and then updates later and bans the person when they log in again (regardless of whatever pc it is from) ergo your brother being sold a dodgy account

I think the hardware ban is just attached to that key. Like delete said get a new key or if u cheated then get shopping :O
