BF2 Resolution?

the widescreen is awful in the new patch, they have left the fov the same as it was, lazy beggers

You sure? FOV has definitely increased for me:

There is a fix on the EA forums to fix the FOV.

The example Titanium posted is an example that the distance has enlarged.. instead of making it wider. If you look at the 1.41 screenshot, you will see that the building are way more near the person, then in the 1.5 screenshot ;).

Where does one download this 1.5 patch, the only places I've found it are so slow that BF3 will be out by the time the patch has downloaded. Not to mention the fact that the official EA BF2 site only has links for the 1.41 patch.

But isn't this what it's meant to do?

In 1.41 (incorrect FOV):

Widescreen horizontal FOV = 4:3 screen horizontal FOV
Widscreen vertical FOV < 4:3 screen vertical FOV

In 1.5 (correct FOV):

Widescreen horizontal FOV > 4:3 screen horizontal FOV
Widescreen vertical FOV = 4:3 screen vertical FOV

Therefore:

1.5 WS horizontal FOV > 1.41 WS horizontal FOV
1.5 WS vertical FOV > 1.5 WS vertical FOV

The net effect of all this (going from 1.41 to 1.5 on widescreens) is that you'll be able to see more, but things will seem further away because although the FOV has increased (both horizontal and vertical) the screen resolution and screen size remain the same (1680x1050/22" in my case).
So how is it wrong?

I know 50k btw, vital-gaming here ;)

As far as I know the FOV and HUD are still not ok together.
Either the HUD is stretched and the FOV is ok.
Or the HUD is ok but the FOV is wrong.

That's the point I tried to tell you.

Also the great fix from the pc communtiy to resolve the Alt+tab crash is awesome. Something DICE couldn't fix.
