bf2 special forces not working

I've just yesterday installed special forces, but when it gets to 100% of loading a map, it gives the message The server only allows players with unmodified content to join. Revert your version of battlefield 2 to the latest official version to join

I have the latest 1.21 patch. I've even tried reinstalling that patch to no avail. Do i really need to uninstall bf2/sf completely and reinstall in a particular order?

Off the top of my head, the correct order for installing is:
BF2
BF2: Special Forces
Patch 1.2 (Full)
Patch 1.21

ok, if i do that can i at least backup the battlefield 2 folder in my docs so i don't have to reset my gfx/keyboard config?

Actually you don't need to install 1.2, you can just install the 'full' v1.21 patch.

BF2
SF
v1.21

Done!

yeah, just do the full 1.21

but install the games first

Had this same problem, re-installed got BF2 key invalid and SF problem. Left it as I was getting very hacked off, now its working????

Was a server verification error - all fine now! What a pain! :mad:

Fullfat, would you believe that was a copy brought from a purple retailer (a mate who wants to play on one of my machines got his own!). The one you sold me is no problems now - now and again the patch springs up the error - but sure now its the patch!!
