Bf2 vs BF 2142

So are people going to leave bf2 in favour of the new 2142 or are they sticking it out with a more realistic looking game rather than a futuristic looking game?

Am curious as I am a bf2 fanboy not planning on getting this 2142 as I am not a fan of futuristic games.
 
having played the beta of 2142 for maybe 20hrs i felt complelled to contact EA/Dice and ask for those wasted hrs back.

i was looking forward to getting bf2142 and nearly pre-ordered and would have cancelled if i did, its rubbish.

now before i get the 'IT WAS A BETA WAIT FOR THE FULL GAME POLICE' on my back, ive played many fps competatively(sp) over the last 8yrs or so and kinda have a feel and instinct as to whether a game is good or not.

Id rather pay for a MOD like POE than a below average effort like boringfield2142.

Game play reports on BF 2142 have been really bad (I think it was discussed on both the PC Gamer and 1up show podcasts last week). If this continues in the reviews I will defiantly give it is miss and probably just wait for TF2 and Quake Wars.

Because experience shows that as soon as bf2 came out CSS servers became vastly empty of players.

I was going to write my own message on this but I will just copy this one, I feel the same way from beta, played for about 4 days and then uninstalled.

Ive not managed to get bf2 installed and patched properly (Bugs and errors in the patches) so Ive had to give up with POE2 ... well basicly had enough of the battlefield name for now.

if they can come out with something on a new engine from the ground up then they should give me a call, till then im sick of the current engine and its annoying features that has been carried over to 2412. That being said I did get my moneys worth of fun and laughs from bf2, mainly to the servers I played on and the people it was with (50k bunch) that made it extra fun, caused me try to look past the bugs and some of the strange gameplay.

Buy BF2 as I think more people will play that than 2142 from what I've been reading, well, if EA/Dice ever get patches sorted out.

I know a few folk won't be buying 2142 due to the patching history of the BF series until they get their act together.

Agreed, 1.2 totally took me out of the BF series. 1.3 didn't do much good either, I didnt even attempt with 1.4 I just uninstalled the game all together.
 
the game looks so cool, but as people have said i have yet to hear a good report from anyone i know in the beta

i am totally bored of bf2 and do need a new game though so we will see
 
I quite liked 2142. It is more like a mod than an actually game though. The vehicles were fun to play with (which I dont like in Bf2, preper infantry games) and the team work was better working together. But that could have just been the players.

I dont think I will get the game straight away but will when it drops in price. Definately worth £20 I feel.
 
I wont be buying 2142 right away, im going to wait and see what others think of it before i spend my money on another EA game. It may tempt me over with the different game mode as endless flag capture on bf2 gets a little frustrating. I personally dont think 2142 will be as popular with the older cs bfv bf2 generation players, who like there guns.

I havent looked into the game coms system, if its less restrictive than bf2 it may be a good thing.

Is it worth geting bf2, with 2142 coming out. Also ive heard a lot of bad stuff about the patching.

I realy like the look of ET:QW but im not shure when its out and i need a game to play until then.
 
Not a fan of futuristic type games tbh.. hence why I never went any further than WW2 in Empire Earth for example.

But if I hear rave reviews when the game is out and everyone is playing it, I'll probably get it yeah.
 
BF1942 was the business, totally rocked my world and I stillplay it quite often now.

BF2 was ok, however I was never a fan of the DC mod for 1942 and it reminded me of it too much, although I still play it and am beginning to enjoy it more.

BF2142 (Beta), sucks in such a large way it isnt even funny. It looks like a mod for BF2, plays like a poorly written mod for BF2 and they want to charge for it, calling it a new game.

Will stick to BF2/BF1942 and Company of Heroes (once the 29th rolls around).
 
After them killing the game with 1.3 for me, then in 1.4 killing my windows install EA can **** *** if they think I am buying a PC game by them again, BFME2 didnt run on any of my 6 computers that were 2x the minimum spec either.

Great ideas, rushed. If BF2 was released now, with the same graphics but maybe 2 bugs it would be THE game.

Just not on that they add more features every patch, but never fix issues just make more. Really is a mentality aimed at getting children to play for a few days each patch, does not promote people playing for 6months+. :(
