bf2142 and x1800xt

Hi have you set the X-fi to ultra in bf2142? i turned mine down to high and turned of EA/HD off because i was getting stuttering.
are you using the newest drivers from ATI 6.11? and creative, and you havn't got any IRQ conflicts, maybe in bios you could re-enable parallel port and the other stuff you mentioned that you disabled.
are you using ATI tray tools or the ATI full driver package? also what chipset does your motherboard use?, installed the patch for BF2142?
its a nightmare this PC lark when you get problems

Cheers

Ninja

Edit: just thought id mention that is the X-fi card in the last pci slot on the board.

test your rails on the psu by using OCCT, search for it as has been posted on forums elsewhere for sure. This will give graph of rails under load and normal. That will tell you if it is psu related or not.

Erm only other thing I could start to suggest is maybe check hdd ? maybe its being a bit **** and dying a painfully slow death ?

OCCT doesnt show the rails or temps on the main menu so didnt think it would work, or is this normal?

and yeah the x-fi is in the last pci slot, iv also tried the other spares.

im using the full ati package, have tried ati tray tools and omega drivers

and i dont think theirs anything wrong with the hdd's , everest tells me with smart, everythings fine :/

might sound wierd but have you checked monitor drivers ? ive had similair issues, blue screens when playing games, directx driver problems and it ALL stemmed down to using a different version of my monitor driver...

well the voltage everest tells me are the same as what the bios tells me, they are all fine.

im going to save up a thew weeks and get the following

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - OEM
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3
Zalman CNPS9500-AT

if its still doing it then i will know its either the hdd's or psu

sorry to keep bumping this. But i THINK i might know what this couild be.

Recently my akasa green led fan has been flickering, and when i was playing hl2, everytime it stutterd, (which was mostly when objects were flying around) the green led on the fan flickerd??

Could this be the psu being dodgy, or mobo maybe :s

That does seem strange, maybe under heavy load your cards pulling in the extra power and causing instability. Could be a reason for poor performance.
Your case is a rather tricky one to help with as everything on paper says that it should fly through the games and res your playing at.
Maybe you could borrow a better psu and try that??? If not then you could buy a new one - if everything works properly then the old psu is on the way out and bin it or use it in a low spec'd rig that draws little power, but then if all is the same then old psu is fine you could sell it as fully working to recoup(sp?) some of the cash spent on the new one.

Yeah im getting a new psu, plus switching to core2duo. Just to be sure!!
