BF2142 Errors and CTDs

I just installed the game yesterday and it seems to be really unstable and with graphical glitches at times. The most common problem is crash to desktop which I've gotten about three times already. When I check event viewer I get a pair of these application errors after each CTD:

I also get graphics issues too, sometimes in titan mode after flying an aircraft some of the landscape textures are missing (replaced with black), or when entering certain aircraft, everything is black when in cockpit view. Sometimes the UI is also messed up with some of it missing; this happened just a while ago and I got the following system error (something about the profile.con in the bf2124 profile folder not being written to the disk):

My system is otherwise perfectly stable and BF2 works fine too. Is anyone experiencing these problems? Any ideas on how to fix it?

What graphics card are you running?

If it's ATI, I had CTD with Cat 6.9 drivers so went back to 6.7 and I don't CTD now.

The stupid server disconnect issue now infuriates me instead.

Here are my specs:

Athlon 64 3500+
2gb Ram
Radeon X1900XT 512mb
X-Fi sound card

I'm runnining XP+SP2 with all drivers upto date expect I'm using the Omega 6.9 drivers, so this might possibly be the source of the problems. Its really weird because it seems to be working perfectly fine most of the time and then suddenly it all goes haywire.

NickK, did you get any graphical glitches when you had the 6.9 drivers? Like missing textures and missing graphics in the game menu?

Well I found that the 6.9s caused instability from the instant I installed them.

I didn't notice any graphical corruption. The CTD was random - even when the machine was switched on then left idle without loading anying but IE. *boom* complete power reset or hard lock.
I simply reverted to 6.7 without touching the machine and it's back to normal.

pumaz - I've heard that too about VoIP but this was with VoIP disabled too.

I just returned my cpu from 2.5ghz to the stock speeds of 2.2ghz and I haven't had any CTDs so far which is really strange since everything else is stable. I still have to test this out more though to be sure that it was in fact the overclock.

Speaking of the overclock, I left the cpu voltage at 1.4v, would increasing it help? By how much?
