Right, heres the situation:

2 PC's side by side, 2 copies of BF2142. Housemate has to reformat the other day and when reinstalling BF2142 on his PC, uses my CD key.

Problem is, he then also muddled up the BF2142 boxes and doesnt know which is which.

How do I find out which CD key isnt being used? Is there a way of finding out what CD Key you are using?

only thing i could suggest is either something in the registry, in which case im of no help at all or uninstall the game on both PCs, pick a case each, write your name in it and reinstall.

As long as there isnt 2 people logged on with the same cd key there shouldnt be a problem. And your login info should be fine with any CD key.

Only other thing would be to email EA and include pics of both PCs, both games, boxes, etc and explain the situation. They 'may' help.

from what I see on google (don't have any BF game) the key is probably stored in the registry.

Just run regedit and search for part of one of the keys. It'll probably be obvious when you find it. If you don't find it, then if it's not there try the other one, in case it's not actually in the registry.

chances are it would encrypted and would mean nothing to a normal windows user.

Go here:

http://www.electronicarts.co.uk/MyProfile.aspx

Login and at the my account page click the My full account details button:

From here choose the My Games tab and it should show the Registration key used for the game.

That depends if it's registered or just activated. I mean my key isn't registered with EA so it doesn't show in my account.

You'd be better just uninstalling both (you can choose to save profiles, screenshots and stuff like that during uninstall) and then installing again. The only problem is with patches which can take a while (anyone remember what BF2's patches were like  ).
