Hi guys,

This has happened before and happened again tonight:

I'm playing BF2142 fine, silky smooth fps, gfx high etc. but then after 10mins or so, the fps dramitcally drop in open areas (area that usually give my PC no problems whatsoever), then when i'm next to a wall, for example, they shoot back up. Any ideas? I don't think its temp related, as the changes happen too quick for it to be a case of heat up and throttle, if you catch my drift?

Cheers for any responses

nah, I think it's something more complex than that. When it happens, its like one second i'm at 60fps in a corridor then turn around and drops to 5-7fps where normally I can get 60fps in all areas. Could it be that my 256Mb 7600GT's memory gets full? It only happens when I set all details to high @ 1152x864 but 9/10 I can run this fine, it's just an odd occasion.

Camp Gib, conquest, haven't had it happen on any other map but thats because I play camp gib 99% of the time and it only happens occasionally

OK I've discovered its the PnkBstrB.exe process thats hoggin my CPU at certain times, but there doesn't seem to be anythin I can do about it :( maybe just a faster CPU I guess?

read a thread by ben2600+ regarding this and has listed steps to resolve my issue and it works. Thanks guys. getting 'some nice frames' now
