BF2142 :: Super game - damn tough!!

With the amount I play I bump in to cheats from time to time, Was some Dude on the other night everybody was getting worked up about. Me & 2 other vets just told the others to avoid that part of the map & ignore him, within a round he gave up & left.
Ignoring cheats is the best defence against them, The Mentality a cheat has is Easily beaten, Once you ignore him he has No game. Get revved up & flaming & he'll stay All night.
I have to admit to some serious bad behaviour if the cheat is on my side, I switch to Medic then repeatedly Stab & Revive him, Whilst you do this the player can not even press ESC to get out the game, All he can do is Power down his system
I will Not have a cheat on my team.

This classic guide is for BF2 but the lessons learned can be applied to 2142

i loved this game - played it day in day out about 6 months then all of the sudden it just lost its appeal and havent played it since - i bought the expansion pack too

is it really any good?? I played the demo when it was released and thought it was terrible - really dull, uninspiring maps, dumbed down classes, terrible new game mode (the one with the horribly textured hovering spaceship)
I came away from it appreciating BF2 more!

The classes aren't dumbed down they were just condensed, there were way to many in BF2.

nah I disagree, there was a nice mix of classes in BF2 and seldom was I on a server that didnt have all of them playing at once.

The floating spaceship as you put it is called a Titan. Crappy textures?? You must not be able to play on High settings my friend!! A decent spec machine will let you play on High with no / minimal lag on a busy busy server.
Once you realise that Titan manps need teamwork and find a good sever / clan, these matches are great! Lone wolfing on titan will get you NO WHERE and 6 feet under v.quick!
Its a good game. The only people who slate it are BF2 vets who pwn at that, but cant dolphin dive with headshot on 2142 so they die a lot

storming a titan with a squad in a transport heli, landing it wrong so you all bail out while it blows up. Scuttle into the back vents and camp it out at the rear corner inside the titan picking off people
A few squad mates storm down (or lag down in the titan >.>) and rush the control rooms, managing to blow them up after 5 rounds of ammo. All of you rish into the core spamming it or knifing it for 20 mins while constantly being killed (great time for a medic btw) then it goes kaplooy and you all run out trying to land on the floor for that survivor pin that never works!
Its one hell of an adrenalin(sp) rush
Textures are pretty damn nice even now tbh, amazing how it used to run smooth on my old 7800gt! I think im the only bf2 vet who loves it
But everyone joins my squad of various names due to the magical red 2.

Main advice would be to get in a good squad and stick together. It makes a lot of difference. Even 2 people working together as a team makes life a lot easier.
