BF3.. cards

Now a few of you have played BF3. You clock hackers

Howz is looking in terms or cards and settings..

Ive not had the chance to play as yet due to game in transit.. But I was looking at 580GTX or 2 6950's 2Gs in Xfire..

22in 1680x1050. But looking to change that to 24in HD

i7 920 @ 4Ghz
6G DDR3 1866mhz
Asus x58 MB
Antec 850w
Antec 1200

What resolution is your monitor? Makes a difference.

Either option is awesome btw but your res does matter.

Well as you can see from this chart:

6950CF comfortably beats the 580 in pure pureformance but you do have to factor in Xfire possible problems and if you get a 580 now - it will play every game well enough for sure and in the future when it is struggling you can get another for 580SLI.

Best price/performance is definitely 6950CF but if you do decide to go for the 580 I'd get a 3GB version but my vote would be 6950CF.

I've been leaning to CF the more I look @ it. Be nice if I could unlock the 6950's but I know it's luck of the draw ect...

Guess I could sell the games that comes with to make it more tempting.

BF3 is eating my Crossfire HD6970s. It's not choppy but it's not 60fps+ constant either.

This is at 2560x1600 (native) with the auto-configured graphics settings which from memory were Ultra textures and High on everything else. My i7-2600k CPU is only running at 3.8Ghz though, On lower resolutions I would imagine it would run very nicely.

Haven't experienced Crossfire problems though, both cards seem to be running at 99% usage according to MSI Afterburner.

Am debating getting Crossfire HD6990s now

Running lovely here, everything on max @1080p:

6950>70 Crossfire@950MHz, 1350HMz, +20% power tune, [email protected], 16Gb mem, Crucial M4 128Gb for the OS and a Force 3 for BF3.

11.10 Preview 2's(preview 3 gave me issues with other games so I went back) and cap 3

Simply sublime, lowest I've seen in mp was about 58fps to the highest about 140+ fps, very little to no screen tearing as well!

Performance shocked me to be honest, I wasn't expecting this kind of fps!

The graphics are simply stunning especially in sp, screenshots don't do it justice at all!

you dont need crossfire to play bf3 at 1680 or 1920. single 6970. cf is for 2560x1900

crossfire 6990? do you use eyefinity? if not thats a ridiculous waste of money.
