im trying to find a good setup, had it on high with my system and it was ok, followed this guide here, but get a bit of stuttering, what is the best to turn down a little, but keep the good looks of BF3?

what i have is this according to the guide

http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/OPS/Battlefield-3-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-570-OPS

my spec is this

SH67H7 Shuttle, Intel i7 2600k, 16gb Crucial DDR3 Ballistix PC3-10600, Nvidia GTX 570 , Intel X25-M 80GB SSD, WD 1TB, Windows 7 Pro.

I found that turning shadows down to medium made a good difference and I didnt really notice much change to how it looks

ok mate will give that a blast, i kinda wish i just left it at default, but boy it looks nicer, so wanna keep the quality as best i can now, without losing game play.

That's odd, I have a 570 and have every single setting maxed out and it is always playable frames on every map, was on the OCUK server with you last night too :) good games

/edit and I'm at full HD are you not?

You can see the big hogs of FPS! Shadows isn't one of them :)

Jimlad, your rig should be ok on Ultra tbh, are you sure it is not another problem, ie overheating? Have you tried it on Ultra with your case open?

That is a lot of rig for a shuttle. :)

Video ram yeah? Not your 16GB

yeah using these widgets, dunno how good they are

yeah heat is ok, got a MSI card with a rear exhauster, temps got going above 70 and i have the window open being a dirty smoker,

I'm guessing those widgets may not work in the background cause 22% is unfeasibly low VRAM usage. As an example here's mine during Caspian 64:

It starts off quite low around 1GB but goes up quickly, over 1.5GB after a few minutes and ends up like this:

1559
1564
1571
1575
1582
1586
1594
1595
1595
1604
1609
1611
1613
1612
1612
1612
1612
1612
1611
1610
1609
1609
1609
1610
1610
1610
1610
1610
1610
1610
1610
Then I quit to windows...
305
280
276
256

This is on ultra with full AA etc, every setting under the sun maxed out at 1080p maintaining over 30fps constant (low of around 38). I think it's the amount of memory that may be the issue.

Run GPU-Z and tick the boxes to log to file and refresh in the back ground, that will show you what you're using in game.

Someone posted somewhere that if you right click on the BF3.exe and disable desktop composition it can free up a bit, but I've not tried myself.

/edit tried it for a few mins...didn't go above 1429 so it does help. (looks like it just turns off aero)
