Salutations,

So after seeing the announcement of another double XP this one being a week long (premium player) I've been thinking that the reason they are forcing so many double XP events upon us is because DICE may be wanting to create some form of prestige like from call of duty. Personally I never really did prestige in COD however with battlefield I think I could go the distance. Anyway this is pretty much just a little discussion thread what are you thoughts?

(Would have posted on battlelog but their community sucks)

before the double xp events it would take a good player around 500-600 hours to get to colonel rank 100. I don't know how many hours most people play a single pc game but I'd say around 100-200 hours if they enjoyed it and eventually got bored of it/moved onto another game. Even if they introduced a prestige point reset form colonel 100 to 0, only a few people would get that one prestige point, and a dozen with 2 or above.

the reason they are doing double XP is to try and get players back and for those dumb enough to still be playing this game to keep on playing it.

not rocket science.

Why are you "dumb" If you continue playing a game you ejoy, that is your opinion on the game, and your opinion only.

perhaps...but the online figures would suggest the opinion resides with the majority.
EA need to sell the dlc after all - they cant sell it well with a small player base.

Yup as Neo said.

After playing Dayz and seeing the support Rocket got from BI and the rate at which he was fixing and updating the game kinda opened my eyes to how bad of franchise Battlefield has gone. Not to mention how console friendly all big publisher games are..... No mod tools for the community and no care for us at all!! SO **** Battlefield, **** DICE and a big **** OFF TO EA!!

Anyone who could get to level100 in BF3 and then prestige round again, needs to get a life badly.

I consider myself a decent player, not great by any means. I have about 120 hours in BF3 now. I usually finish top 5, and get about 1.2:1 KD ratio. The players you see getting 10:1 etc are either insanely naturally good, or have no lives outside of gaming, the latter being the more likely scenario.

BF3 ranking is shallow and pointless once you hit first colonel, not rewarding at all and no effort is required especially when EA spam DXP in your face COD style. BF2 when you hit that next rank you felt you had accomplished something, it was rewarding, in BF3 it's just point whoring for endless colonel ranks, everyone's a colonel within a month of the games release, it's so cheap and poorly designed. BF2 has stats but BF3 takes it to the next extreme and puts far to much emphasis on it just like COD does, it comes to the point where fun and teamplay come second to worthless stats.

Agreed, in BF2 it took ages to rank up. I remember levelling up and waiting over a week to decide whether to get the L85 or something else because unlocks were hard to get. Now every 10 kills get you something.

Have to agree with this. I remember playing BF2 and only being rank 16 after months and months of playing. I also remember something about only 1 person in the region could have the top rank at once or something?

yeah they were general or something and once someone got more points, they were bumped back down.

dont care about levels, its hitting helis & jets with RPGs and tank shells, dogfighting vs 2 jets and winning, owning infantry in a jet then getting called every name under the sun is just a few reasons why this game is amazing and i play it everyday!

DXP & ranks means sweet FA to most people i know!

I never cared about my rank once I reached colonel, and it's pointless since a lot of people rank up quickly on metro servers or vehicle 'no killing' servers. a lot of my friends still play bf3 and are fairly good in a squad which is probably why I've played this game constantly since release!
