Friend at work would like a rig to play BF3 on his Plasma TV, 52inch I believe.

He says all or nothing, either he buys it for the PS3 or he goes all out and gets something that will play it at max settings.

Needs an OS
doesn't see a monitor (see above)

Anyone recommend some set-ups? Preferably pre-build or OC building the system.

Thanks.

pretty much anything he gets over £300 will beat the PS3 graphics and gameplay. consoles have it running at low graphics, 16 player maximum (as opposed to 64) 30FPS and a maximum of 720p resolution (upscaled by the console).

however, how unlimited do you really mean, because i could happily spec a 7k rig for him which has 2x GTX 590 which are watercooled, but that would be absolutely ridiculous. i would much rather recommend 2x 580s and some other sensible stuff
*edit*
oops, just seen it was a prebuild. surely the 120GB SSD would be better stulid?

I'll build him something! lol

You'll likely want an overclocked 2500K/2600K, 2/3-Way SLI GTX 580 3GB or SLI GTX590s. BF3 tends to eat VRam from what I could see in the Beta.

He already told me he had a machine spec for £3500, I don't like the idea of someone spending that kind of money when I am sure a cheaper spec will do the same job.

if its from little green men clothing then i'll say dont even bother with it

Not sure actually but I am liking the look of the Ultima Tyrannosaur build with some upgrades.

Need to question him on how he plans on playing, got a horrible feeling he might think a controller due to playing on the plasma? :S

That will be a fast PC also, and the £500 saving over the tyrannosaur will go along way for future upgrades.
