Sorry if this has already been asked. However since running Windows 8 I have not been able to open and run BF3. I have downloaded the "Plugin" however this still does not help.
I have also reinstalled Origin and BF3 (took bl**dy hours), yet again this did not help, I keep getting asked to download the plug in over and over.

I am gutted because I did like this game, so begs the question, do I bin BF3 and buy BF4, or will I have the same problem of it not working on Windows 8.1

I do not want to run Chrome or Firefox etc, I would ideally like to stick with IE.

I know I cannot be the only one with this problem, however I thought that Origin would have issued an update by now.

ANY help, and/or guidance would be very much appreciated
Thanks

No point buying BF4, you'll end up with the same problem.

What security setting do you have IE set to? Medium? If not, try Medium.

Disable all firewall, antivirus, etc and try and install the plugin again. I had this problem and a google search provided me with that answer.

Sorry to ask, why can't you just use chrome for Battlenet, like you've said it's not ideal but if it gets you playing ?

Win 8.1 sucks. I had the same problem.

I'm now back on windows 8...

I had no problem with either.

OP, delete all previous versions of the plugin, then halt your AV / Firewall and try again. I would probably run C Cleaner through the registry as well.

Just try using Chrome if it does not work. If it does not, just uninstall it. It makes no sence not to try all available fixes.

Just reloaded Windows 8.1 from an ISO, not the Win 8 to 8.1 update. So I am now in the process of downloading BF3 once again, a completely fresh install, so will see what happens this time.
Just got to sit back and wait for the download, circa 6 hours !!!

win8 works fine with both bf3 ans bf4 you are doing something wrong.

it will be either your browser or reinstall pb even though you installed it.

when you dl the plugin and install it especially in bf3 shut bl off then re launch it. i had a similar issue and if i didn't shut it totally down it would still say i needed a plugin.

When it says re-install plugin, shut down your IE an fully shut down origin then install it an launch the game from the browser.

Mine does the same after a plugin update, also using W8.

only problem I have had runnning windows 8.1 is that after an update for the game bf3 and bf4 is that firefox, chrome etc battlelog still prompts on the web page and ask's for plugin and game update, I do the following goto origin app my games and do a repair after that close origin then reopen and that fixes my problem, maybe thats what your not doing.

I have 8.1 and BF3 works fine for me. I did have an issue with a plugin constantly wanting to install but it is common issue with lots of fixes in Google. I just cleared a lot of old BF3 data and reinstalled punkbuster.

I know a lot off people running bf3 on windows 8.1 playing it fine. Think the OP has serious user problems.

Reinstalled Windows 8.1 from an ISO using Windows 8 Code
Deleted all my old Origin data & Games (on a separate SSD)
Reinstalled Origin + BF3 + BF4

Done a Google search, LOT's of people having problems getting the BF3 plugins to work with Windows 8.1, and more importantly IE11

Now just a case of downloading my Steam games, why O why Steam bother to sell you 2 DVD's in a fancy box when they do nothing as you end up downloading is beyond me.

Thanks for the help and happy new year
Syd
