If you don't mind the poor and troublesome ATI drivers the 6870's the best bang for the buck right now, but BF3's a meaner benchmark than Crysis ever was. I've resigned myself to lowering all settings to medium at 1080p.
Using fxaa did help a lot, but I'm definitely still not getting 60fps with everything set to high. I could switch terrain and effects to high, so that's something. Not complaining about the card at all though, it's a beast. What are these troublesome ati drivers you speak of? I have been running ati for years and only really came across a few niggles.
A 6870 will run bf3 pretty easy as long as you use fxaa instead of msaa. You will probably achieve a steady 60fps on all high settings.
From experience ATI's drivers only really give you big problems running Xfire.
^This.460 to 6870 is an upgrade, but not enough of one to warrant the change in my opinion.
