BF3 with a 6970

Hi i have a HIS ATI HD 6970 IceQ 2GB and i only have this problem with BF3, that is when the game loads up it then CTD`s and says something about driver stopped responding and has recovered.
All drivers are up to date etc .. has anybody got any ideas ?

Use to do this to me aswell before i overclocked properley i.e voltage bump on my 6970's etc..

Yea...it doesn't sound like unstable clock...may be the manufacturer didn't put enough default voltage?

Its the drivers, everybody has it at some point, would'nt worry over it.

Also, 1500W for that system is crazy!

I had this and fixed it with voltage increase. Use Msi afterburner and adjust the voltage by a small 6 from stock and test.

agreed either memory speed needs a slight reduction to 1325-1350,
Or the core voltage needs a tweak from 1.175 to a little higher say 1.19v

Cheers for input peeps much appreciated, the GFX card is @default so i`ll bump that up a little.. plus the 12.8 drivers out today so will try that to.

What driver were you on when the CTD's start?

Go back to the previous working driver, then test again, if it still does it, then it shouldn't be a driver issue.

Have you oc'd the 6970 in the past?

What clocks if you did?

It could be the card that's at fault and not the driver, or something else in the system.

For instance, if your cpu's oc has become unstable due to deterioration and/or for BF3 due to a recent patch, it could be tied in with that, and so on.

Did you fresh install after removing the quad SLi?

If not it could be remnants of the nVidia drivers causing you issues.

Cheers for the input .. i tried all ..fresh install ..voltages.. etc etc .. After all that .. think its MSI Afterburner making it happen... switch it off .. BF3 works now..
