Hi

Had this issue for a while now, my rig is stable and running all other games and program's no problem. Stress tested it and never crashed once

However as soon as I start playing BF4 it would be ok for a time but then BSOD and ends with a minidump. This only happens with bf4 nothing else.

Did do the usual DDU and clean reinstalled the gfx drivers which seem better but occasionally still BSOD while playing. Nothing really has changed, could it be a game update perhaps as it always been fine for over a year until now.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Kyo

try and lower down your oc a bit and see if that helps, game might be straining the system more than other games

do you have the error code from the bsod at all?

As above, what's the error? I've found BF4 doesn't mind CPU OC's too much but doesn't get along with GPU OC's that much. If you have an OC on your card try and revert it to stock.

BF4 is the best stress test of OC's ever invented, also invented by accident it seems lol

I try and get the code next time it happens. As with my gfx card it factory oc so it is running at stock as far as I am aware.

I think you guys could be right only thing that was changed was upgrading the gfx card. With the exact same setup hardware with exception of my gtx 580 it ran np

You should still be able to pull the fault code from windows event logs.

Or for an automated one use "whocrashed" will tell you what driver is responsible.

I also had a bluescreen start recently. Backing down from Ultra to High graphics quality fixed it. I think a recent game update may be responsible as I had not changed hardware or drivers.

Anyway, I cant see the difference between the two settings, so its not the end of the world!

I had a BSOD yesterday on this too. I have played it for many hours since and not had a problem, rather strange. Still going to redo my OC and see how that goes.

The BSOD code will point you to right direction, as mynight mention Event Viewer>Windows logs>System (can be application) Or when it happens write down the stopcode

Thanks for all the help and useful info. I dont know too much about troubleshhoting BSOD but both bluescreenviewer and who crash looks a good way to go. Will post what I find

Cheers

Right ran this before i went to bed.

That's the same code as i got, it is related to unstable OC. I lowered my overclock slightly and it's fine.

Yes that is maybe a solution but the fact that he only has factory OC would make me angry as the card is as it comes and BSOD while playing may mean that something is wrong with the card...

Check what temperatures you have on the card while playing BF, may be insufficient cooling on the card?

depends what OC he is referring too, CPU OC or GPU OC?

if the GPU has factory OC then leave it, if the CPU has a OC then lower it down slightly and try again.

the sig states he has a I7 930 @ 4ghz, try lowering it down to 3.8ghz and see if that helps

Hi Guys

Thanks again for all the input and I really appreciate the help from you guys :)

My cpu - was a cpu/Mobo bundle i bought from ocuk quite a few years ago that came overclocked@4ghz where they clocked, tested and confirmed stability. Which I can confirm using over the last 3-4 years has been solid as a rock. Also as i mentioned with the exact same hardware setup (with my previous gfx card GTX 580) ran BF4 fine for well over a year without any problems. It wasnt until you guys reminded me that this problem started around the time i switched to the 780ti card that i started experiencing the problems.

GPU - As both ED and Smrtka said the Zoltec is running stock with the factory settings it currently running. To be fair it seems to run everything else i thrown at it without problems. Heatwise it is not a issue, even full load my card doesnt top 70c and my case is super efficent for cooling too. So temp as far as i am aware is not a issue either. I ran HWmon and confirm max temp in case and on card.

From the report is it telling me Windows is Bluescreening because of the OS or from the card? Or as i suspect it more related to a driver/OS/game update. My memory could be wrong but I could have sworn it was ok to begin until a few months ago.

check pb update.

Do you mean punkbuster? and I think your onto seomthing. Searching it there loads of links for BSOD with BF4 and a lot has reference to pb being update too. How do I do this?

Cheers

try and run Prime 95 and memtest and see if they come back with any issues or errors

also might be worth checking the windows files

open up command prompt and put in

SFC /scannow

seen it before where re seating the memory can also help
