0x124 is usually vcore related, but can also be chipset voltage. The latter is known as qpi/vtt on X58.

Thought I just post a quick update. Think i am going to leave the voltage as a last resort. Did run sfc /scannow and punkbuster. So far so good ran 4 maps without any crashes. Will run a little while longer to see what happens.

Cheers

If you have been running a fairly hefty overclock for 3-4 years, it's certainly a possibility that you need a small bump in vcore.

ok played good for 6 hours and suddenly another crash. Same error code didnt bsod though. Just crashed out the game with MEMORY.dmp. Ran bluescreen but other than same code it didnt give any info at all.

Ok may either turn down the details settings to medium and see what happens. I dont really kniw what i am doing with the voltage but cant understand why it worked ok with the my old card.

I might give this a try.

edit - taking a look i have 2 voltages 1 cpu and the other as setter said is mention chipset. Which one should i try first? I only really want to marginally raise it slightly to see if it makes a difference.

I'm so glad I've seen this as I thought it was just a problem with my comp! I suddenly started to suffer from the exact same problem just two days ago. I've been playing bf4 on my current set up for a year with no problems at all, and out of nowhere it's started crashing. I took my overclock down a few steps on my cpu and it's seemed ok. I'm on an AMD 8350 at 4.6 just for info. I might try putting the vcore up a step as I've got no temp problems.

Id try a bump on cpu vcore first.

Ok I tried bumping up the CPU core to the next level setting and it went ok but temps are around 7-8c higher. So set it back to normal to what it was.

I then thought try the mobo volt just again to the next setting up but now the PC won't boot up. It starts and I don't even get as far as the bios. It starts the fans for a few seconds and powers off. And does this repeatedly in a loop. I think that the system protecting itself right?

Is my only option now to reset the CMOS on the mobo to bring back to default settings so I can boot up?? If I do that will I lose my oc settings which I have no clue to set as I paid ocuk for when I first got it?

Ok phew - sorted it out. My mobo type had a clear cmos button at the back of the peripherals area. No need to to muck around with the dip switch or pins.

Was able to reset the bios and then load up the saved oc settings which i didnt lose. Thanks to the support girl at ocuk, she didnt know herself but asked one of the others. So please if someone can pass on my thanks be much appreciated. All sorted and great customer service.

Right think i am getting some clues of what the problem is. Although my system does BSOD. It only happens with BF4 and all other games and apps are fine.

Notice this entry just before the crash

Faulting application name: bf4.exe, version: 1.4.2.23831, time stamp: 0x547fa9b4
Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000

Having a look on their EA forums this unknown fault module looks like a very common issue linked with the latest update. Looks like i am not the only one that experience BSOD and crashing.

To compound the issue origin currently is "b0rked" and just tried verify and reinstall bf4 and it failed. Looks like their a general origin issue which is currently affecting everybody :(

Man this just get worse to worse. Always defended origin and bf4 but this is beyond a joke.

Ok some good news. hope i dont jinx myself.

As previously mentioned, i ended up downloading and "clean" installing everything from scratch. This included removing the profile and it settings folders contained in your windows profile.

Unfortunately this did not fix the issue, Played around 30 mins and same thing happens. did a lot of research and as also mentioned it seems to be quite a common occurance. This is to players that previously (like me) had no problems with the game for years before and also never had any hardware changes.

3 factors which i am confident that helped.

1. After installation and removing the previous bf4 profile from the windows profile area.
2. Reran DXsetup installation in redist folder.
3. Ran the game on Window borderless mode.

Viola the game *touch wood* has not crashed after 6 maps. Will do further testing but goes to show it may not even be related to my hardware.

Hi

I wanted to post thanks for your replies. It really helped out.

Been playing for hours on multiple tests and all is well again. Perhaps this post will help those that has experienced similar problems with bf4

Cheers

Glad to hear things have been fine the last few weeks Kyo, and hope it stays that way for you.:)

Just in case the issue comes back, overclocks will degrade over time and what was once stable won't be. So the 4ghz may require a touch more v-core to keep it stable, but your temps will rise.

Hopefully it just needed a fresh install.
