have you tried www.pingtest.net around the sort of time you usually play ?
You can also set up a thinkbroadband broadband quality monitor to check for connection quality too.

For example mine looks like this :
I have some wierd hourly spike so obviously something somewhere using the internet on the hour every hour. But there's no red so no packetlos.
