BF4 Troubles

I have a couple of questions about BF4 trouble that I am having.

I have done all the tweaks found online from Reddit and the like and none of it has seem ed to have helped in my BF4 FPS.

My specs:

CPU: AMD X6 1090t @3.5ghz

RAM: 8GB 800mhz DDR2

GPU: Nvidia GTX 680 (GPU +165mhz, Memory +470mhz)

The trouble I have is that in many populated areas in 64 player maps my FPS will often dip down to about 27 fps, then in other areas it will go all the way up to 70fps.

I have 'un-parked' all CPU cores in RegEdit and I am still only seeing 75%-80% GPU usage (None of them are idle)

Settings are a mix of Low, medium and high

Also I attach a video where you can see I am getting some weird flickering and I was wondering if anybody knew the answer to it.

Starts at about 0:52 into the video - http://youtu.be/AOJt3WxuqjY?t=52s

First thing I would say is make sure all your drivers and software is up to date. The second thing I would say is BF4 is a waste of space at the moment. I can play on medium settings with my rig but still have so many bugs and issues I just don't play it!

Check and update drivers. Lower graphics settings / switch to auto. Or just play BF3.

I wouldn't be concerned about your PC, it's BF4. I can run at decent FPS with everything on high but having odd FPS dips just annoys the hell out of me so I have it all on low, hardly looks any different!

With regard to the FPS drops, try and run the game with the x86 exe.

It helped with me, I still get occasional drops but not as bad as running it in 64-bit, using windows 8.1 x64.

It hasn't solved the random crashing and directx errors though ...

Certainly hasn't improved the maps :D

But I can finally play without it dropping to under 10 FPS regularly

I have had the latest drivers for the past week.
I was told on another forum that it might be a RAM speed issue.
I have seen the blog done by Corsair but it don't think it would make that much of a difference.

It's your CPU. I have very similar minimums (35~)
The following image is from a singleplayer benchmark. Multiplayer can only be worse:

Regarding the flickering, that's Z-fighting. You can't do anything about it AFAIK, and I doubt DICE are willing to fix it. The same thing happened on many maps in BF3.

That's just the way Windows handles multicore CPUs; constantly juggle the load to prevent temperature buildup or a single core becoming overused. BF4 seems to only use 4 cores at any one time, and I'm sure if you set the executable's core affinity to cores 0/1/2/3, they'd be at 100% usage almost constantly. It's also the reason you're only seeing 75-80% GPU usage; CPU bottleneck. I know it's hard to swallow but our Thuban CPUs are almost 4 years old now. Nothing lasts forever :p

Some guys on some other forums say that it is more of a RAM issue?
I might try moving to Windows 8.1 before spending any money on hardware. I've got a disk laying around somewhere so it's worth a shot for a free performance boost.
