is this worth getting while it's on offer just for the single player mode???

single player alone wouldnt be worth it in my opinion, you would complete it pretty fast.
but for multiplayer, and thats what this is usually purchased for, is a different story, well worth the cash

Whats it like i used to be a cod 4 master on the 360 but the pc cod 4 community sucks ***** is there anti cheat/hack etc on there so you get a good fair game?

Dedicated servers running Punkbuster. Although not perfect (far from it) it stops only the most determined hackers and those who are willing to pay to cheat. get on a good server (SAS BD and NM) and there is almost always a human admin on also. A quick call to them and if they can see anyone playing fishy, the hacker/cheater gets a server ban.

I'm generally impressed by the low level of hacking/cheating, its actually managed very well in this game.
