Bought the game brand new online on the GAME store, when installing i get promted with an error saying the "cab2" file is curropt or has errors. I then phoned one of the EA repestive hes told me to restart my comupter, done that, tried again still no affect, then he told me to move the files on disc to a new folder in my documents, tried that no affect same problem. I was then given a digital download, which worked but now since i have rebuilt the PC and reinstalled, everything new and the Operating sytem i have no luck and back to the same problem with the disc itself and the digital download.

To be honest, i have only played the game for about a month after i got it working on the digital download but when playin it seems very glitchy, my pc meets the spec and more so no problem there. I couldnt even play the singleplayer as when i was playing, it would go through the title scenes and then start the music and voices for the game and crash to the desktop .

Could be but everything was brand new, also got this with the digital download so it is areal mystery to me. How could these thing effect the digital version.

What folder you installing BC2 into?

i know it sounds stupid but sometimes installing the program into a dif directory can solve problems.

I tried installing it normally to my c:/ drive, but then EA guy told me to copy all the folders and stuff on the CD to a folder in my C:/ drive so i made a separate folder in my c drive and installed it to there but yet it still wont install.

Update : Sent the game back after contacting them, they say they will replace it if they find it has defects (for nothing), where if they find i have done it i will get a new game but have to pay £7.50

normally a digital download you dont need to copy to cd, when i downloaded tom clancy's hawks it was a straight install, the problem with copying to disk is that some hidden file/folders are not included. this is most probly due to copy right.

you said that you recently re-downloaded the game? re-install in c:/ straight from download/ or you can try and locate the cab.file.

i definately think that not all files are copied to the disk causing the error

I havent copyed anything to disk, the digital download i downloaded and installed from the EA download manager straight and the other time i tryed installing from the DVD i bought.

The fact is even if i do get it installed, it prob won't work as i will prob have the same issues as i had before, with the stuttering and crashing to desktop in single player, and only be ale to mulitplayer half decently.

I don't think much of the game now , never could get used to it, like the look of the new Medal of honor tbh :P

Ok Update....

Got the game back from EA this morning that i had sent to them after them telling me to send it to them and ill get a new one.

To open the jiffy envelop and see that they had sent me the game back along with a letter is bloody ridiculous !

Now what am i supposed to do ? How am i supposed to play it.

I need help guys any suggestions ?

Probably completely unrelated, but I couldn't install bad company due to an install error- never had this issue before but insert of windows disk and running the repair operating system tool worked for me, turns out some random windows file was corrupt.

Maybe worth a shot... I'm on Vista 64 BTW
