BFBC2 key lost during reinstall

I have just completed a reinstall of windows 7 (problems with creative xfi driver). Went to load up BC2 and it is asking for the CD key.

As i thought i had saved it to the disk when i installed i threw away the box. Is there anyway of recovering my CD key from the install drive or is it lost forever.

I saved the files from My Documents if that is any help to me. Really wanted a game tonight.

Uh, unlikely.

Seems like a pretty good idea not to throw away keys and boxes to me.

You could try contacting EA, a few years ago i lost the manual (with cd key on it) for a copy of Medal of honor allied assault. Mailed EA with proof that id purchased the game, they sent me out a new manual and a new cd key printed on it.

ohh thats very helpful, thanks setter.

And thats why steam is sometimes so useful. I thought i was saving space when i moved house throwing lots of old game boxes away.

Funny thing is that game never required a legit key to work online, which attributed greatly to its popularity

get in touch with EA's support, theyve always been excellent to deal with in my experience and they shoudl help you out with the CD key.
they may need information from you but the cd key is tied with your EA account so shouldnt be all that hard to prove you own the game. explain the situation and see if they can help

Yea EA support were great. Sent them the receipt for the game and they sent me the cd-code. This only took them a matter of hours to sort out for me. Big thanks to EA support for that.
