BFBC2 retail to steam

i was always under the impression even if you purchase a retail product you can still implement this into steam, so essentually when inputting my BC2 key into steam it advises invalid am i right in assuming now theres no way to get this working via steam?
 
no you can't get it on steam but you can add it as a non steam game then play it from steam and can use the steam overlay etc. :)
 
If you want a digital backup option you can always add the retail key to EADM, well its called Origin now.

That way you can always download it if the disc breaks in some way.

Thats a shame :(, i do remember activating certain games which worked goes to explain why i would assume it would have worked activating it, reason why i wanted to do this was for a quick purchase of vietnam thats all.

Just buy Vietnam from EADM, you get sent a code that you input into BC2 and it unlocks it. You will have already donwloaded Vietnam from a previous update so no need to wait for it to download.
