BFG 7900GT OC - first overclock

Just started to overclock my BFG 7900GT OC . I started out with the coolbits from the control panel and detected optimal settings.

It came up with 550 on the core and 800 on the memory . Now that memory reading sounds a bit low to start with ??? Or is it ?

Rivatuner will let me go much higher but I don't want to fry it !!!

I know all the stories about them 'being borked' and this has been RMA'd once !

Anyone else got one of these ? And what are you running it at ?

Hey, got one of these with a zalman vf900 fitted. I haven't vold modded it. for 24/7 Use i'm running it at 550/800 so what you've just detected
Remember you double the ram so thats effectively 1600Mhz.
Idle temperatures are about 38-39 and full load is a touch over 50.

I haven't volt modded mine, so whatever is stock. Actually have had the core higher but it needed slower memory speeds for some reason.

I reached 550/1800 without any volt mods, with zalman vf900.

Ah right forgot about doubling the memory speed DOH !!

More than happy with this card , on with the tweaking !!!

550 / 815 for now

Going to fit a Zalman VF900 , is it worth fitting the RAM heatsinks as well ????
