Hi all

got the BFG 8600 GT OC and have been very happy with it, but wondering what the core temp at full load should be approximately.

Rivatuner reports it to be a stable 79c at full load.

Only problem i had was with LOTRO. Got a static/snow like effect on the screen which promptly went away when rebooting. I believe LOTRO has some graphics issues with certain cards. Playing STALKER gives no problems.

am i worrying over nothing here??!

Pretty sure when I had the stock fan on it didn't get that toasty. (Zalman put on for the voltmod).

What frequency's is it at?

"Got a static/snow like effect"

I get lines dotted lines going across the screen at certain points (flashing) if the memory gets to toasty.

i put the latest nvidia drivers on originally, but trying the BFG recommended ones now to see if that makes any difference.

its at 565Mhz,BFG overclock it a little bit

one case fan at back, one at front and whatever the PSU sucks out. Idle temp is 54c.

Its a fairly old case so the cooling was not a big feature. Will try with case off to see what difference that makes. Might be time to get a new case...

Think I was just under 70 at 675 / 800 on the stock cooler...

Pull the side of the case off and see if it makes a difference

hmmm so it could be within tolerable limits.

i've contacted BFG to get an official word on it just in case.

The overclock is well within limits.

I'd just be concerned about the temps.

okay thanks everyone, just wanted to get a reality check on the temps.

Will check out the cooling of my case and see what BFG say.

thanks again.

My MSI 8600GT @ 675/850 (passive cooler version) idles at 40-45 and hits around 65 at load. 79deg seems quite high, but if it is stable don't worry too much because I think BFG offer a lifetime warrenty.

cooling seems okay, all games apart from Lord of the Rings Online are fine. Many people getting the same issues, common factor being an nvidia 8 series and intel dual core.

BFG will RMA it if I want.

Amazing how one game can screw things up
